Potable water available for Sweden residents
According to the U.S Drought Monitor, Western New York has “abnormally dry” soil for this time of year. However, the situation is not serious enough at this point to be considered a drought. The Town of Sweden has long made potable water available to rural residents who experience well shortages or quality concerns. Residents may fill their own containers at both the highway garage, 40 White Road, and Lakeview Cemetery, 4988 Lake Road. For information, call 637-3369.
Sweden is pursuing a public water expansion project on Lake Road south, part of Redman Road, and Countryview Terrace. The project will make public water available to about 139 properties that currently do not have access. Soil borings along the route will take place in the next few weeks. The town plans to put the project to public bid this fall.
