Race, Walk and Roll Event to benefit Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp
Rochester Rotary will hold its second annual Sunshine Camp Trail Mix 5K to benefit children with disabilities who take advantage of Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp.
The Sunshine Camp Trail Mix 5K will take place Sunday, October 11, at Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp, a fully accessible summer camp located at 809 Five Points Road in Rush. Runners will take part in the event on-site at the camp. Walkers have the option of participating at the camp or virtually, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to supporting children and young adults with disabilities, participants also will have an exclusive opportunity to see some of the 157 acres of this private camp – through a mix of paved sidewalks and natural dirt trails.
“Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp is the only local camp of its kind that gives children with special needs unique overnight camping experiences,” said Rochester Rotary President Peter J. Glennon. “While the camp is not operating this summer due to COVID-19, we are holding events like the Trail Mix 5K to help secure the future of our 98-year-old camp. We hope the community will come out for this event and help local kids with disabilities.”
Registration must be done in advance as no walk-in registrations will be allowed. To register for the Sunshine Camp Trail Mix 5K or to learn about sponsorship opportunities, visit sunshinecampus.org or contact Rochester Rotary Executive Director Tracey Dreisbach at tracey@rochesterrotary.org.
