Hilton Village Election set for September 15

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hilton Village Election, originally scheduled for March 18, 2020, has been rescheduled for September 15, 2020. There are three candidates running to fill two vacant Hilton Village Trustee seats. The candidates are Sherry A. Farrell, Maureen L. Spindler, and Shannon E. Zabelny.

For those wishing to vote in person, the election will be held at the Hilton Community Center, 59 Henry Street, from noon to 9 p.m. in the Board Room. Social distancing will be carefully monitored.

Those wishing to vote absentee need to fill out an application. If you have not already received an application in the mail, it is available online at https://www2.monroecounty.gov/files/boe/Monroe_AbsenteeBallot-English.pdf, or by calling the Monroe County Board of Elections at 753-1550. If seeking an absentee ballot because of COVID, check off “illness” for the reason for applying, and write in the date for the Village election. Add a closing date for after the General election, and the application will cover both the Village election and November General election.

The application must be mailed back to the Board of Elections and postmarked by September 8 in order to receive a ballot in time for the Village election. The Village election ballot itself must be postmarked by September 14 and received no later than the seventh day after the election.

Those planning to vote absentee are urged to apply for their ballots as soon as possible to allow enough time for both mailings.
