The Hilton Community Clothes Closet, located in the basement of Hilton Baptist Church, 50 Lake Avenue, is expanding its hours of operation beginning in October. In addition to Tuesdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m., the Clothes Closet will now be open from 5 to 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday and third Thursday of the month. Appointments are not necessary.
The Clothes Closet has clothing in all sizes, for every member of the family. There are no residency requirements, but it is asked that families only visit once a month.
Several rules are in place to comply with CDC guidelines on COVID-19. Clients are asked to wait in their cars in the parking lot until called into the building by a volunteer. Only one family is allowed in at a time. Anyone entering the building will be required to wear a face covering, including children over the age of two. Upon entering the building, families will be asked to fill out a form for tracing purposes. Anyone not feeling well is asked to postpone their visit.
Donations of gently worn clothing as well as shoes in good condition are always welcome. Undergarment donations should be new and in an unopened package.
