Adult activities resume at SCCC

Several adult activities have resumed at the Sweden Clarkson Community Center. The fitness center re-opened first on September 21. Jazzercise classes have begun anew and Silver Sneakers classes began October 5. Per the Monroe County Health Department, all activities are by pre-registration only.

Silver Sneakers classes are held Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. (Classic) and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. (Yoga). Reservations are required 24 hours in advance. Participants should bring a full water bottle (drinking fountains are closed), masks must be worn the entire time, and a health screening questionnaire must be answered.

Pickleball begins on October 12. Two sessions will be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Advanced Players may play Tuesday and Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with Beginners from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.

Reservations for pickleball must be made 24 hours in advance. Masks must be worn at all times (no bandanas or gaiters), exact payment is required (no change given), bring a full water bottle, and be prepared to complete a screening questionnaire.

In order to be compliant with health department guidelines, only two pickleball courts will be open for play. Only six players allowed per session per court. Paddle and personal items must be kept in a bucket provided by the Community Center.

The SCCC is pleased to be able to offer more programs as allowed by the health department, but asks for complete COVID compliance from participants so that the Center may remain open for activities. The Center is not open to the general public at this time. For more information about any of the programs at the Community Center, call 431-0090 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
