It’s been many years and a lot of work, but on Monday, October 26, at 1 p.m., the East Avenue/Bennett Road traffic light was turned on. The Hilton Central School District partnered with Senator Joe Robach to obtain a grant to make the light possible and create a turning lane in front of the High School. The new light enables school buses to arrive and leave more safely and makes drop-off and pick-up times safer for everyone.
The signal is set to flash yellow on East Avenue and flash red on Bennett Road for around ten days before being put in full “three-color” operation. Electronic message boards and new signs are in place to warn motorists of the new signal.
