Thanks for supporting our veterans
As Veterans Day approaches, thank you to the community for its overwhelming support of our Poppy Program. For decades, around Memorial Day, Auxiliary Units across the country have distributed poppies and accepted donations in return. Generations of Americans grew up supporting this program because it was well known all the monies collected must, and do, directly support veterans.
During the pandemic, we began distributing poppies virtually on our Legion Family website. Distribution was extended to the Fourth of July and Veterans Day enabling us to continue supporting veterans programs at the same pace as ever. “Boxes From Home” have been shipped to individuals serving overseas, and contributions to Spencerport’s Eagle Star Veterans Home and the Batavia VA’s PTSD program have continued. This year we are collecting both toys and books for the USMC Toys for Tots project. All thanks to you. Through our Fourth of July Decorating Contest, we launched a new program that tells the “Poppy Story” and explains the good works we carry out for veterans in need using Poppy donations.
Thank you for your generosity. Go to www.harveycnoonepost954.org for information on the Poppy Story and the good works it supports.
