Brockport bridge closing for repairs
The New York State Department of Transportation will temporarily close the Park Avenue/Fayette Street bridge over the Erie Canal in Brockport on Tuesday, December 8, to rehabilitate the structure. The bridge will remain closed for approximately four months.
Construction will include the replacement of the flooring system to strengthen the bridge in anticipation of increased traffic volumes during the replacement of the nearby Route 19 (Main Street) lift bridge, which will require a long-term closure beginning in 2022.
During this winter closure there will not be a detour posted, though motorists may use the Main Street lift bridge to cross over the canal. All construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
