On January 21, the Town of Sweden Zoning Board of Appeals granted an area variance of 35 feet to enable the construction of a single-family home on approximately 70.63 acres of land southwest of the abandoned end of Redman Road. In making the determination, the ZBA found that the variance request was not substantial, self-created, or feasibly remedied by another method. The board also determined there would be no adverse environmental impact or undesirable change in the character of the neighborhood by granting the variance. The five-member ZBA meets only upon application to area or use variances of the Sweden Town Code.
