Clarkson Historical Society announces Handwriting Contest winners
The Clarkson Historical Society would like to thank all the students who sent in entries for our Handwriting Contest in this difficult year. It was also a difficult year for the judges. There were fewer entries (74), but the quality of these entries was such that the judges could have given out many honorable mention awards. However, we will give honorable mentions to the three classes that had the most entries: Mrs. S. Shannon, grade 4, Fred W. Hill School, Brockport; and Mr. McDowell and Mrs. Huber, both teachers in the high school classes at Lake Ontario Baptist Academy. The winners are below.
Grades 4-5
1. Leah Landis of Brockport, home school, grade 4
2. Mia Rugari of Brockport, Hill School, grade 5, Mr. Resseguie
3. Tessa Rugari of Brockport, Hill School, grade 5, Mr. Yu
Grades 6-8
1. Candace Harris of Brockport, home school, grade 7
2. Abby Russo of Holley, Lake Ontario Baptist Academy, grade 8, Mrs. Huber
3. Lily Landis of Brockport, home school, grade 6
Grades 9-12
1. Cynthia Harris of Brockport, home school, grade 11
2. Rebecca Nelson of Brockport, Lake Ontario Baptist Academy, grade 10, Mr. McDowell
3. Charity F. Huber of Holley, Lake Ontario Baptist Academy, grade 10, Mr. McDowell
The first, second, and third place winners in each category will receive medals and certificates.
Many thanks to all who were a part of this year’s contest for keeping cursive writing “alive and well.”
