Transportation museum receives grant
The New York Museum of Transportation, in Rush, has received a $5,000 grant from the Emery Rail Heritage Trust. The grant is in support of the museum’s project to replace the electric heating units in interurban trolley car 161.
“Having safe and reliable heat in the 94-year-old trolley car is important to our visitors during our popular fall foliage rides and Holly Trolley events in the Christmas season,” said museum president Charles Lowe.
The New York Museum of Transportation is entirely volunteer-run and, in addition to featuring numerous exhibits and model railroads, operates the only electric trolley ride in New York State.
Museum reopening plans, with rides offered on selected Sundays, will be announced soon.
