I find the fact that this dog is being used as a political tool. Why is Vanessa being treated differently than any other dog who might have been in the same situation? I am truly appalled by the way this jogger decided to handle the situation and find it truly sad that it has been taken this far. Dogs are innocent creatures who when treated with kindness usually show no aggression. Vanessa seems to have been a house-trained, friendly dog who didn’t seem to have any issues with anyone else. I am not implying that biting is okay or that it is in any way ok that this woman may have suffered, but if she really can not provide any real proof and this is all due to her husband pushing this to extreme limits in court, that I am truly disgusted and the community should be too. To think that an animal could be treated any differently because of who the supposed victim is in unfair and absurd. This matter should be absolutely be brought to the community’s attention because it shouldn’t be allowed for someone to use their position of power to take the life of an animal without giving it the second chance that other animals are extended in the same situation. I vehemently oppose the way this town has handled this situation and I hope the matter is reassessed factoring in the outpouring of support for Vanessa and her family and friends.
