Unequal Treatment Under the Law
In a smaller town al public officials, including Judges, must be sensitive to the appearance of inappropriate behavior.
In the case of Vanessa the dog, this is quite apparent, and the level of bias is unethical and disconcerting. There are many posts, and comments that say she was violent and pulled hard on a leash when walking. I own two (2) large labs who do the same thing because they are extremely happy to see people.
Further, court documents clearly state that the victim cannot identify the dog who bit her, yet the court and prosecutor have held Vanessa for ten (10) months in inhumane conditions.
When the Judge and prosecutor took their oaths, they swore to administer justice without respect to persons, with equal right to rich and poor, under the Constitution.
If Vanessa were human, her current conditions- which she has been house in for over ten (10) months – would be in violation of Amendment VIII and considered cruel and unusual punishments.
Further, the conditions in which Vanessa has been kept are in conflict with Agriculture and Markets Law – AGM ss 374….. Improperly confined or kept.
Neither the family nor Vanessa have had an opportunity to examine and challenge the evidence, and face their accuser.
If the individual did not have a direct connection to a political person in the Town, the pet would have been released to her family.
It in is the best interest of this family that Vanessa be released from custody and placed in the care/custody of a qualified and willing trainer.
Even beloved family pets and support animals can be rehabilitated, especially when the evidence of their supposed crime is weak and unclear.
When multiple dogs are involved in an event is it impossible to point the finger at one animal, yet in this case miraculously the purported victim and supposed witness have definitely done so.
That is not the norm in all of the chaos.
Please release Vanessa.
