Summer Reading Game returns to Newman Riga Library
The Summer Reading Game returns to Newman Riga Library for 2021. It is part of the celebration of the library’s 100th year.
Beginning on June 28 and ending August 5, school-aged children can play the game anytime the library is open. Children who want to play are given a game board. Those who complete their game boards will be entered in a drawing for prizes. Preschool-aged children will participate in an independent reading program with a parent while maintaining a log. Presenting the reading log at the end of the program will result in a packet of prizes. Young adults are encouraged to read whatever books they choose, allowing them to apply their required reading for school to the game for prizes.
Programming at the library is still being developed, but the African Drummers will return on August 17 for a 2 p.m. performance on the library lawn. The library hopes to schedule more programming as COVID restrictions change.
