The restoration of the mural above Lift Bridge Book Shop was completed on June 29 when Brockport DPW installed new durable panels painted by artist Stacey Kirby. The original mural depicting the lyrics of the well-known canal song, “Low Bridge, Everybody Down,” was painted directly on the brickwork in 2010 and had been worn by time and the elements. The restoration included modern painting and installation techniques to ensure longevity. The project was paid for by an Erie Canalway IMPACT! Grant and private donors. Plans for an official dedication will be announced in the near future.
