Participants of the eight-day Cycle the Erie Canal Bike Tour from Buffalo to Albany passed through our readership area on Day 2, July 12. Riders traveled 61 miles from Medina to Fairport that day, making some stops along the way. Spencerport Mayor Gary Penders and Deputy Mayor Carol Nellis-Ewell (back row) greeted riders as they took a break in Spencerport. Over 300 cyclists from 34 states are participating in this 23rd annual ride, including (l-r) James DeRusha (Corning, NY), Chris Lord (Staten Island, NY), Nick Allison (Manaroneck, NY), Ed Wengler (Point Lookout, NY), Terri McClure (Virginia), and Al Engelsher (Huntington, NY).
