Empire State Ride makes stop in Spencerport
Empire State Ride is managed by Roswell Park Alliance Foundation to raise funds for research and patient care at Roswell Park in Buffalo. Over 225 riders rode more than 500 miles from New York City to Niagara Falls over seven days stopping at different locations each night. Staff set up tents for the riders and carried luggage for them to each new destination. They also provided meals as well as showers and all essential things. Riders arrived in Spencerport at the end of Day 6, July 30, to camp on the grounds of Ferris Goodridge Post #330 of the American Legion on Trimmer Road (at left). They had travelled 83 miles that day, tackling more than 1,900 feet of elevation. After a good night’s rest, the riders departed for their final destination, Niagara Falls (below). Over the duration of the ride, $1.6 million was raised to benefit Roswell Park. For information, visit empirestateride.com.
