You can’t text while kayaking, read emails while throwing a basketball, or play a video game while strength-training…and that’s the whole idea behind the area’s third annual recreation festival, Rochester Rec Fest, being held at the Spencerport Firemen’s Field on Saturday, August 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The family-friendly festival for all ages features sports activities, challenges, live music, food, recreation exhibitors, and demonstrations. Admission is free.
All are invited to spend a day outdoors next to the Erie Canal in Spencerport and explore fun ways to be more active. Come prepared to enter the MVP Health Care Sports Arena where you can challenge yourself to participate in activities such as disc golf, mini golf, and a basketball free throw competition.
In the Exhibitor Zone, local recreation, health, and wellness focused businesses will spotlight their goods and services. This zone will also feature the inaugural rock stacking competition. There will be live music from AJ DiNoto and his Big Band and from In The Mix.
An activity tent and food vendors round out this annual festival designed to encourage residents of all ages to discover ways to become more physically active. There will be resources for all kinds of activities in and around Rochester and its suburbs.
