OFC presents fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS
OFC Creations will present in-person performances of Bare: A Pop Opera September 24 through 26 at the OFC Creations Theatre Center Main Stage as a fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Bare: A Pop Opera is about a group of high school seniors at a Catholic boarding school facing issues of sexuality and personal identity. As the students struggle to come to terms with who they are, and who the world thinks they should be, they seek answers from their church, their friends, and ultimately, from within themselves.
OFC previously presented Bare: A Pop Opera in 2014 at the East End Theatre to sold out audiences. “We wanted to bring Bare back to reach a whole new generation who are dealing with the same identity issues we were seven years ago,” says Eric Vaughn Johnson, executive director. The story comes with a message of hope for the next generation to love and accept one another.
The show will also act as OFC’s annual fundraiser for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids. Raffle tickets for select Broadway memorabilia will be available before the show. Students from OFC’s educational programs will also be in the lobby after the show to accept additional cash donations. For information on Broadway Cares, visit www.broadwaycares.org.
Ticket prices range from $18 to $25 and can be purchased at www.OFCCreations.com or by calling 585-667-0954. Performances at the OFC Creations Theatre Center, 3450 Winton Place, are: Friday, September 24, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, September 25, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, September 26, at 2 p.m. This show is appropriate for ages 13 and up.
