What You Need to Know
- Governor Kathy Hochul signed into law a new moratorium on COVID-related residential and commercial evictions, which is in effect until January 15, 2022.
- $65 million will be available to local health departments across the state to support the distribution of booster shots.
- As part of a new, comprehensive plan to help ensure a safe return to schools this fall, Governor Hochul has directed the NYS Department of Health to institute a universal mask requirement in all schools.
- All healthcare workers in NYS hospitals and long-term care facilities will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by Monday, September 27.
- On June 24, 2021 New York State ended the state disaster emergency declared on March 7, 2020 to fight COVID-19.
- The Open Enrollment Period for uninsured New Yorkers has been extended through December 31, 2021. New Yorkers can apply for coverage through NY State of Health or directly through insurers.
