Ogden Historical Society embarks on new project
Ogden Historical Society (OHS) volunteers have located the remains of a 210-year-old structure (circa 1804-1811) that they are in the process of exploring and collecting data. The site is believed to be associated with one of the earliest settlers in our area, and OHS is looking forward to discovering more about them and how they lived and worked. They have also located artifacts that will be on display in the Colby Pulver House museum in the future.
In their effort to explore the site, OHS is asking members of the community for help with a few supplies. Donations to the Historical Society are always welcome, as are volunteers; however, right now, they are asking for the following tools to help with the 1811 Barn Project:
•Surveyors ranging rods, 2-3
•Wooden or metal stakes (20-40)
•Twine (600 feet)
•Trowel (flat), 2
•Picks, dental (1-2)
•Tracing paper (L format)
•Drawing board (portable)
•Driveway stakes (36”-48”) 40
•Water
•Hats (blaze orange) (3-5)
•Blaze Orange vests (2-4)
Anyone able to provide any of these items is asked to contact Wayne Hilton, Whilton99@yahoo.com, or Ginny Parker, Vlparker@ogdenhistoricalsociety.org.
