4-H Achievement Night celebrates youth accomplishments

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County (CCE-Monroe) 4-H Youth Development Program gathered virtually with 4-H members and volunteers to celebrate the learning and achievements of the 2020-2021 project year. Youth received award packages to be opened during the virtual ceremony. Adding to the fun was the encouragement to create a fall-themed backdrop or to wear a fun costume to the event. A scavenger hunt and creation of a word cloud kept all participants engaged.

Fourteen youth received 4-H Top Achievement Awards and were recognized for their dedication to every aspect of 4-H: Grace Potter, Joey Trevisani, Avery Pude, Olivia Stefano, Brianna Tindall, Asa Peck, Schuyler Peck, Madeline Tosto, DeAshaney Holloway, Shamell Campbell, Evelyn Kaproth-Joslin, Abigail Dayton, Adeline Whilden, and McKenzie Foster. Recipients participated in multiple educational, service, and promotional events as well as prepared a 4-H public presentation during the previous project year. Along with 4-H Achievement awards, over 30 youth received Star Service Awards, 4-H Scholar Awards, and Leadership awards for their participation in educational, service, and public presentation events.

Cloverbud members Kara Shiner and Winona Mahon were recognized for their participation in 4-H. Cloverbuds, ages five to seven, received a special recognition during the virtual ceremony as well as a t-shirt to wear and show their pride in 4-H.

A virtual ceremony allowed youth to celebrate their achievements and gather with other 4-H members throughout Monroe County. All youth who attended the virtual ceremony had the opportunity to win door prizes from local establishments, including Wickham Farms, The Strong National Museum of Play, The Memorial Art Gallery, and the Rochester Red Wings.

The Monroe County 4-H Program is offered through Cornell Cooperative Extension to the youth of Monroe County. 4-H is a worldwide youth development program open to all youth aged five to 19, who want to have fun, learn new skills, and explore the world. In return, youth who participate in 4-H find a supportive environment and opportunities for hands-on or “experiential” learning about things that interest them.
