First Presbyterian Church of Chili’s Food Cupboard provides groceries and holiday meals

The First Presbyterian Church of Chili has a Food Cupboard that distributes bags of groceries to small and large families. The vision in establishing this Food Cupboard was to provide emergency food, hope, and a bridge to self-sufficiency to families in need in the community. These groceries can be picked up on the third Saturday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the church, 3600 Chili Avenue. No prior registration is required to receive groceries. Food in the grocery bags includes such items as canned fruits, vegetables, meats, cereal, a variety of soups, mac and cheese, pasta, tomato sauce, rice, cake and muffin mixes, etc.  Fresh eggs and milk are also distributed with each bag.

At Thanksgiving and Christmas (November 20 and December 18 distributions), holiday meals will be distributed in addition to the regular grocery bags. The holiday meals will include a turkey and/or ham, potatoes, rolls, vegetables, a dessert, and other traditional foods served during these seasons. Registration is required to receive a holiday meal. Contact church secretary Sandy McCauley at 889-9896 to receive a holiday meal. Registration ensures the necessary food items are available for these seasonal dinners.
