RPO launches a holiday challenge

In the midst of a holiday season full of festive concerts, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) is launching a Holiday Matching Gift Challenge. Made possible through the generosity of a group of RPO Board Members, the fundraising campaign will match all gifts and pledges made through midnight on December 31, 2021, up to $300,000.

“I feel so warmly welcomed by the Rochester community and our world-class orchestra,” says RPO Music Director Andreas Delfs. “The holiday season is the perfect time to share our precious gifts with others, so that they too may experience the transportive magic of music made by a true Rochester treasure for many, many years to come.”

Additionally, both Maestro Delfs and Principal Pops Conductor Jeff Tyzik have agreed to be “raffled off” for Dinner With the Maestro. Every person who donates or pledges $100 or more will be entered into a lottery pool from which the two maestros will each randomly draw a name in January. Each winner plus a guest will enjoy a private dining experience with the Maestro who drew their name at a local restaurant of the conductor’s choosing.

“As we do all that we can to keep music alive at the RPO we respectfully ask you to consider making a year-end gift during our dollar-for-dollar challenge,” adds Tyzik. “These funds will allow us to continue to bring joy, beauty, and meaningful experiences to our community through our many concerts in the Eastman Theater and our outreach and education concert series.”

All Holiday Challenge donations will provide critical support for the RPO’s mission of engaging, educating, and inspiring future generations of music lovers. This includes presenting dozens of free community concerts in all quadrants of the City of Rochester, inviting thousands of school children to experience their first concerts at Kodak Hall, and more – none of which would be possible without the generosity of music lovers in our community and beyond.

Donations or pledges can be made by visiting www.rpo.org/donate to make a gift by credit card or by emailing development@rpo.org to document pledge intentions.
