Hilton-Parma Gazebo Band to perform Community Christmas Concert
The Hilton-Parma Gazebo Band, conducted by Dr. Charles P. Schmidt, will perform a Community Christmas Concert on Friday, December 10, 7:30 p.m., at Hilton Baptist Church. This free Christmas concert by the Gazebo Band is the eighth hosted by Hilton Baptist Church since 2013. Donations of non-perishable food items to benefit of the local food shelf will be accepted at the door.
The program will feature traditional concert band music, including several holiday favorites and works by Gustav Holst, Robert Russell Bennett, Hershey Kay, Frank Erickson, and Steven Hodges. The program will also feature tuba player John Montgomery and vocalist Dean Strussenberg in a performance of the novelty, “Santa Wants a Tuba for Christmas.”
The Hilton-Parma Gazebo Band was established in 1984 by Hilton music educator Gordon Bascom. The band is an all-volunteer organization which draws its members from Monroe and Orleans counties. The Gazebo Band is dedicated to presenting an exciting variety of work from a broad range of musical styles. The band’s purpose is to provide adult musicians in the community with an opportunity to continue to create and enjoy music and to share the gift of music with the community,
