Beat the Blahs series returns in January
Opera Guild of Rochester conquers dull Sunday afternoons by sharing opera video presentations of acclaimed productions by favorite composers. The Beat the Blahs Haskell Rosenberg Memorial Series features four events, held on Sundays in January from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Rochester Academy of Medicine, 1441 East Avenue, Rochester. Each screening is preceded by a brief pre-show talk about the production.
The series features Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor presented by Art Axelrod on January 9, Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte presented by Peter Dundas on January 16, Rossini’s L’italiana in Algeri presented by Carol Crocca on January 23, and Massenet’s Manon presented by Carol Crocca on January 30.
All are welcome to attend the viewings, meet fellow opera lovers, and enjoy free refreshments at intermission. A suggested donation for all four viewings is $32 for guild donors ($36 for non-donors). Suggested donations for individual operas are $9 for donors and $10 for non-donors. Parking is free.
