Village of Brockport presents 2022 Winter Serenades

Winter Serenades, a companion to the popular outdoor Summer Serenades series at the Village of Brockport’s Welcome Center, will be offered indoors on four Sunday afternoons in February and March. These winter concerts are the perfect antidote to the cabin fever that usually comes with the area’s snow and long, dark days. Four varied music events will be held at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Main and State Streets in the center of Brockport, from 3 to 4:30 p.m., with a “Meet the Artists” gathering upstairs afterwards.

The series is free, thanks to generous support from community sponsors. The Serenades committee comprised of Terry A. Carbone, Jacquie Davis, Patty Kutz, and Gary Skoog, is excited to showcase four diverse, small groups that will come alive in the intimate setting of St. Luke’s with its excellent acoustics. As a special feature, the musicians will include informative comments about the works they present.

These casual afternoon events are designed for all ages; families are encouraged to attend. The line-up of free winter music performances is:

•February 6 – JAY Trio comprised of RPO cellist Jennifer Carpenter with Aika Ito, violin, and Yoshiko Arahata, piano, will play a rich mixture of solos, duos, and trios.

•February 20 – Finger Lakes Opera singers return with a new recital of popular arias and show tunes.

•March 6 – Andrew Stoker, saxophone, returns for Round Two with pianist Sharon Johnson, playing works by a variety of composers.

•March 27 – Michael Lasser with singers, Alan Jones and Jessica Ann Best, present Fascinatin’ Rhythms – Songs from the Great American Songbook.

Additional information will be available at www.brockportny.org and by phone at 637-5300 ext.110. As with all Village activities, current CDC COVID guidelines will be strictly followed.
