Former Monroe County Fair manager inducted into Hall of Fame

Frances Tepper, author of Fair Lady: Memoirs of a County Fair Manager, which was released in June 2021 by Cosmographia Books, was inducted into the New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs’ Hall of Fame at the association’s annual convention. The induction was held on Sunday, January 16, during the association’s banquet, held at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The honor was bestowed because of Tepper’s contributions to the fair industry during her work with the Monroe County Fair and the state association and in recognition of her published work about the life of a fair manager.

Tepper was executive director of the Monroe County Fair and Recreation Association from 1992 to 2012. In 2000, she served as president of the New York State Association, only the third woman to hold that position in its 112-year history. She also served on the state association’s board of directors for six years as district director, chaired the Agricultural Awareness and Scholarship Committees, was secretary-treasurer of the New York State Association of Agricultural Fair Managers, and was president of the Henrietta Chamber of Commerce that named her Business Person of the Year in 2000.

Fair Lady, Tepper’s debut book, is written with candor and humor and gives a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to put on an annual county fair, describing the roller coaster ride of fair management. For more information, go to https://www.frantepper.net/.
