The engineering firm Passero Associates presented an informal plan for a Royal Car Wash at the Sweden Planning Board meeting on January 24. The site of the proposed business is on the south side of Fourth Section Road, across from the west end of Wegmans plaza. A formal application has not yet been made. The Planning Board also discussed three-month extensions for three solar farm projects previously approved (Kreher, Mantisi, and Wolf Solar Farms).
In January, the building department issued a permit for the construction of a single-family home on West Sweden Road and a commercial permit for renovations of the interior of ESL Bank.
At its organizational meeting on January 3, the Town Board made the building inspector position full-time. The building inspector has traditionally been a part-time position in Sweden, however, increased code enforcement concerns, including those around zombie houses, led the board to the decision to increase the department hours.
