Legion hosts Valentines show for veterans and community

The Harvey C. Noone American Legion Post #954 hosted locally-famous Beatles tribute band “Eight Days A Week” on February 11 for a Valentines show. Over 100 people attended – veterans for free and community members for a minimal fee – for an evening of rocking and dancing.

Legion members say it is important for veterans’ mental health and well being that they know they are appreciated and loved. In the doldrums of a Rochester winter, the Legion Family put together the entertainment to bring love and support to these veterans, their families, and the community.

Churchville’s Deputy Mayor Diane Pusateri joined others on the dance floor, rocking to “A Hard Days Night” and other Beatles tunes while selecting the winning raffle ticket. Veteran Leon Mundt greatly enjoyed and appreciated the event and generously donated his raffle winnings back to the Legion, stating the efforts the Legion is putting into events like these need to continue.

The Legion Family has held two such events in recent months, with an Elvis event in December in addition to this event to get veterans out to enjoy being with fellow veterans and community members.

Ann Plucknette, Sandra Gaffney, Tish Juergens, and others worked together to put on this showcase event for the Churchville and surrounding communities.
