Gates Volunteer Ambulance celebrates Women’s History Month
The 2022 National Women’s History Theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.” This is a tribute to the ceaseless work of caregivers and frontline workers during this ongoing pandemic and also a recognition of the thousands of ways that women of all cultures have provided both healing and hope throughout history.
Gates Ambulance has 48 women staff members on its team. It also has the only female Chief out of all the EMS Agencies in Monroe County. Since becoming chief in 2014, Melissa Geffert has led a staff of over 100 people and an organization that responds to over 8,500 calls a year.
GVAS was able to get a group photo to commemorate the occasion. Several were not pictured due to being on calls at the time of the photo.
