In 2020, the Town of Sweden completed a street light conversion program replacing more than 100 fixtures with energy efficient LED lighting. The Town is now undertaking the second phase of that project, the conversion of the remaining 143 streetlights.
The first project concentrated mostly on main thoroughfares. The second project moves into subdivisions including Sweden Village, Northview, Heritage Square, and Talamora Trail. Conversion programs are lengthy processes that will take several months to complete. Taxpayers in lighting districts will likely begin noticing a reduction in the special district levy in the 2024 town budget.
