Spring Awakening at OFC Creations

OFC Creations Theatre Center presents Spring Awakening for live in-person performances, May 27 through 29 on the OFC Creations Theatre Center Main Stage, 3450 Winton Place, Rochester.

It is Germany in 1891: teens are curious, and adults are rigid and restrictive. Impulsive and reckless Melchior meets naive Wendla, and they soon fall into each other’s arms. Meanwhile, anxious Moritz struggles to live up to society’s expectations for him. Since they can’t talk to the grown-ups, they learn only from one another and discover themselves along the way.

A landmark musical, Spring Awakening is a fusion of morality, sexuality and rock & roll. Based on Frank Wedekind’s groundbreaking and controversial play (once banned in Germany), Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik’s rock score and emotional book bring this coming-of-age story of youth revolt and self-discovery into a new century.

Spring Awakening is presented in partnership with the Rochester Willow Domestic Violence Center and Roc.SRJ and will feature post-show talk backs with the cast following each performance. It is appropriate for ages 16 and up, and contains absolutely no nudity.

Performances of Spring Awakening will be Friday, May 27, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, May 28, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, May 29 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at OFCCreations.com/tickets or by calling 667-0954.
