Little Red to be restored and renovated; will be new site for Ogden Historian
The Town of Ogden’s Little Red building is entering a new chapter as it will soon be renovated and serve as the new site for the Town Historian. Little Red has historically been one of the sites for the Town’s preschool programs. However, it was announced last year that 2022 would be the final graduating class of the Town’s pre-school program at Little Red.
“With Spencerport School District launching free universal preschool, the Town’s program saw a significant decrease in enrollment. That’s what really led to the decision to halt preschool programs at Little Red. This building means so much to our Town and we are certainly sad to have to make this difficult decision to combine our programs in order to continue offering our residents pre-school at the Town Hall campus. I recognize this announcement came as a bit of a surprise to many last year, and the looming question on everyone’s mind became, what will happen to Little Red,” said Ogden Town Supervisor Mike Zale.
After months of collaboration with Town officials, the Town Board has approved of the preservation and restoration of Little Red and agreed that utilizing it as a historical facility will greatly benefit the community.
“Little Red has been a staple in our community for a very long time so what better place to showcase the town’s history than a building rich with history itself,” said Zale. “I’m thrilled it will continue to be a resource for all. I will be sure to keep everyone updated as we transition to this new chapter.”
