Pencils and Paper supply drive underway
Provides free-of-charge school supplies for local teachers and students
Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce is partnering with United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes on an annual summer drive to help bring needed supplies into local classrooms.
Pencils and Paper, a program of Jewish Family Services, operates a no-cost classroom supply store, providing school supplies to local teachers to support students most impacted by poverty. Pencils and Paper is stocked with basic classroom supplies such as pencils, paper, pens, glue, markers, art supplies, tissues, etc. All supplies are free of charge to teachers and items can only be used for the benefit of students in need in our community.
This initiative showcases the power of the community coming together to support schools, teachers, and students. Local organizations are invited to donate supplies online by shopping Pencils and Paper’s wish list, hosting an in-person drive at their office, and volunteering to help stock shelves and sort items.
The drive runs through August 5. More information and sign-ups can be found at https://unitedwayrocflx.org/
