Brockport Summer Serenades news

The Brockport Big Band returns to the Village’s canal side Welcome Center, just off of Main Street, at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening, July 21. The popular Big Band will play plenty of old favorites as well as some perhaps lesser-known tunes. As always, folding chairs and picnics are welcome at Brockport’s Summer Serenades. There’s plenty of room for dancing, too. The Band will play straight through from 7 to 8:30 p.m., ending as the sun begins to set.

The July 28 Summer Serenade features Hanna PK, an artist who is new to the series, performing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. She is a solid pianist, soulful vocalist, and vibrant performer, born and raised in South Korea, currently residing in Rochester. She plays a wide variety of the blues and swing, old school folk, and boogie-woogie. She has a dynamic songwriting style – ranging from a funky tune with socially conscious lyrics to a mournful slow blues, from a pop-edged ballad to an uplifting swinging number, and from barrelhouse boogie to jazz. Summer Serenades continues every Thursday night through the end of August, but with a 6:30 p.m. start time to adjust for an earlier sunset. In case of rain, Serenades events will move to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Main and State Streets. Information is available on the Village web site, www.brockportny.org and by phone at 585-637-5300 ext 110.
