Pulled pork fundraiser to benefit area school project

The First Congregational Church of Spencerport UCC is entering into a partnership with Rochester Academy Charter Elementary School, whose Principal, Heather Eysaman, is a Spencerport native.  RACS was started in 2008 as a High School and has grown to include Elementary and Middle schools.  RACS is a school of choice with 400 students and a 95% graduation rate.

While the partnership will be concentrated on the academic and personal needs of the Elementary school students (grades K-5), the church will also be working to develop a relationship with the Middle and High school students through its music program.

The goal is to provide school supplies and winter clothing for students with help from community partners, fundraisers, and grants.

The First Congregational Church will sponsor a Pulled Pork Barbecue fundraiser on Saturday, August 6, from noon until sold out. The meal includes pulled pork barbecue, fresh coleslaw, salt potatoes, roll, butter, and dessert. Pick up only from the church, located at 65 Church Street, Spencerport. Tickets are $12 each, with all proceeds being donated to the RACS  initiative.

Advance tickets are encouraged and can be secured by calling the church office at 585-352-3448. Tickets can also be purchased from church volunteers who will be hosting the Children’s Craft Booth at Spencerport Canal Days on July 30 and 31.
