St. George’s Episcopal Church is hosting a Hilton-Parma Community Picnic & Flea Market on Saturday, August 13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This year, St. George’s is expanding their Flea Market fundraiser into a Community Picnic “fun”raiser. They see this as an opportunity, in this challenging world, to spread the love of God by providing a fun, inexpensive day for all to enjoy, especially families with children.
The day will be filled with fun activities, including a Flea Market and Book Sale so people can come and browse for a few treasures. Hot dogs and water will be provided free of charge.
Children can enjoy a free Bounce House (open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) and a mini horse for petting. There will also be lawn games, like cornhole, Nerf badminton, and a ladder toss.
The church sanctuary will be open for quiet reflection, and tours of the church and an explanation of the Episcopal tradition will be offered periodically throughout the day.
Parishioners of St. George’s have a great desire to share the love of God with everyone and to serve the Hilton-Parma Community. This can be seen in their Community Garden that produces about 1,000 pounds of vegetables every summer for the Hilton Emergency Food Shelf, their “Loss, Grief, and Healing Support Group,” and Blue Christmas Service for those who have suffered the loss of a loved one. The church is inclusive in nature and is a Safe Place for those in the LGBTQ community.
All are invited to bring family and friends to spend a couple hours enjoying St. George’s hospitality, meeting neighbors, and sharing in the love of God. St George’s is located at 635 Old Wilder Road, Hilton (across from Kelly’s).
