Operation Patriot Foundation is responding to the tragic death of Rochester Police Officer Anthony Mazurkiewicz. On Saturday, August 6th, the non- profit organization will be holding a community charity walk at the Mall at Greece Ridge Center in his honor.
This will be the third time Operation Patriot Foundation has held a charity walk at the mall. Hundreds joined in for the “Walk for RPD Officer Daryl Pierson” on September 20, 2014, raising $10,000 for the Pierson family, and hundreds also joined for the ”Walk for W. Webster Firefighters” on January 5th of 2013. That fundraising walk raised $3,600.00 for the families of volunteer firefighter and Police Lt. Michael Chiapperini, and firefighters Tomasz Kaczowka, Theodore Scardino and Joseph Hofstetter along with Greece Police officer John Ritter.
There will be a short ceremony honoring Officer Mazurkiewicz with special guest speakers including Patty Pierson, sister of slain RPD Officer Daryl Pierson. Several police, fire and military personnel are also expected to attend.
Registration for the walk will begin at 8:00 A.M. in the food court, with the ceremony beginning at 8:45am. The walk will begin at 9:15 A.M. A minimum donation of $10 per person is requested. The first 100 participants who donate $25 or more will receive a free memorial T-shirt. Children 12 and under are free. Attendees should enter at the food court entrance.
Proceeds will be presented to:
