Fair Lady: Memoirs of a County Fair Manager, by local author Frances Tepper, is now available at Lift Bridge Book Shop in Brockport.
Tepper was manager of the Monroe County Fair for nearly 20 years during a time when it was a rarity for women to lead a fair organization. In her book, the author writes with humor and candor about the daily life of a woman in this unusual career and about how the Monroe County Fair grew from what was dubbed “an embarrassment to the industry” into one of the most innovative fairs in New York State. Told in anecdotal form with self-deprecating humor, Fair Lady is a laugh-out-loud read.
