The Great New York State Fair starts August 24
The Great New York State Fair begins on Wednesday, August 24 and continues through Labor Day, Monday, September 5, at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
Fair admission is $3 for adults. People ages 65 and up, as well as children ages 12 and under are admitted free every day of the Fair. Parking costs $5 per vehicle for entrance into any of the Fair’s public lots. Both admission and parking sales are available online via the Fair’s official online ticket seller, Etix (https://www.etix.com/ticket/v/8927?), or by calling Etix toll-free at 1-800-514-3849 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
There will be no cash sales at the Fair’s entrance gates or in parking lots. Self-service kiosks will be available at all gates to purchase admissions. Large signs with QR codes will also be available so patrons can use their phones to link directly to the ticket purchase site. Drivers can pay for parking by credit card in each lot or by EZPass Plus in the Fair’s Orange and Brown lots. EZ Pass Plus is a free add-on to EZ Pass that allows it to be used to pay for parking in addition to highway tolls. Drivers are encouraged to purchase their parking tickets in advance for easier entry into the parking lots.
Sea Lion Splash Show heads this year’s list of free entertainment at the 2022 Great New York State Fair. The show features sea lions performing in a presentation that is equal parts funny and educational. The sea lions will perform three times daily during the week (Monday through Friday), at 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. with four shows on weekends (Saturday & Sunday), at 11:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Great shows and street-level surprises are spread throughout the Fairgrounds, including an Antique Tractor Display, Hollywood Racing Pigs, World of Horses Exhibit, the famous butter sculpture, and much more. Visit https://nysfair.ny.gov/entertainment/attractions for the complete list.
More than 100 food and beverage vendors – including 15 new vendors – will be on hand to tempt the tastebuds of fairgoers. New choices span the globe, ranging from Maine lobster to Texas barbecue, gyros from Greece, bowls with Brazilian flair and street food from Bosnia. There will also be hot sauces and chilling ices, spicy salsas and soothing teas. State Fair interim Director Sean Hennessey said, “This large crop of new food and drink providers will offer fairgoers a wonderful chance to try new things and find new favorites. At the same time, faithful fairgoers will be delighted to return to food places that they only get a chance to try once a year, too.” See a complete list of vendors at https://nysfair.ny.gov/food-drink/food-vendors/.
