Sweden moves forward with streetlight conversion project

The Sweden Town Board approved an outdoor lighting LED conversion program earlier this spring that is the second phase of a replacement program for all streetlights in the town. The first project was completed late in 2020 and dealt mostly with streetlights along major roads, the commercial district, and rural intersections.

The second phase will convert streetlights in subdivisions and a few outliers not undertaken during the first project. Converting the 144 remaining lamps to LED lighting will reduce the energy used and lower the utility bills for Sweden’s nine lighting districts. It will likely still be several months before the project is complete.
