CCE Monroe holding garlic seed sale and workshop

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County is organizing a garlic seed sale and offering an educational workshop to help people be successful in their garlic growing endeavors.

Quality seeds are critical to garlic growing success. The garlic seeds being offered are sourced from Fraser’s Garlic Farm in Churchville. Fraser’s Farm is known for producing superior quality organic certified garlic stock. CCE Monroe is offering one of the most popular varieties – German White hardneck. This variety is great for storage as well as for fresh eating.

Garlic orders can be picked up on Thursday, November 10, or Friday, November 11, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. at CCE of Monroe County, 2449 St. Paul Boulevard, Rochester.

Although garlic is one of the easiest plants to grow, producing high-quality garlic with large, tasty, full-flavored cloves – while avoiding pests and diseases – requires skill and knowledge. To help people grow their garlic CCE Monroe is offering an online workshop on Wednesday, November 2, from 6 to 7 p.m. During the workshop the participants will learn about planting, care, and harvest, including curing and storing. The differences between Hardneck and Softneck garlic and their uses will also be covered.

Register for the workshop at https://calendar.libraryweb.org/calendar/Central/Garlic.
