Darryl Strawberry to headline Boy Scouts’ Annual Fund Kickoff Dinner November 9
Former professional baseball right fielder Darryl Strawberry will headline the annual Seneca Waterways Council, Boy Scouts of America’s Annual Giving Campaign Kickoff on Wednesday, November 9, at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.
Strawberry, a right fielder who played 17 seasons in Major League Baseball for the Mets and Yankees, was one of the most feared sluggers in the sport. He was known for his prodigious home runs and his intimidating presence in the batter’s box. During his career, he helped lead the New York Mets to a World Series Championship in 1986 and the New York Yankees to two World Series championships in 1996 and 1999.
“We are thrilled to bring Darryl Strawberry to Rochester to share his message about redemption and servant leadership,” says Stephen Hoitt, CEO of Seneca Waterways Council. “Support for Scouting is needed as we continue to grow and expand our impact on families throughout our area.”
The dinner starts at 6 p.m. with a reception followed by seating at 7 p.m. for the dinner and program. This event kicks off the Council’s annual fundraising campaign and provides needed funding to grow Scouting’s impact in 2023. Guests are invited to make a pledge of support to Seneca Waterways Council at the dinner.
Call 585-241-8556 or visit www.senecawaterways.org/foskickoff to reserve a seat. A limited number of “meet and greet” packages are available for $125. This includes admission to the dinner as well as an opportunity to meet Strawberry, take a professional photo, and receive an autographed gift.
