Harvey C. Noone Legion Family leads the way for Veterans Day

As the Village of Churchville and the Town of Riga prepare to celebrate Veterans on November 11, the Harvey C. Noone American Legion Post 954 has been active. The Legion along with the Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion purchased lawn signs for veterans to display on their lawn to thank them for their service prior to Veterans Day. This display is the first year of an annual thank you to veterans.
Legion members also went to the airport to welcome back the last Honor Flight of the year on Sunday, October 23. In particular, the Legion and Girl Scout Troop 60487 welcomed back long-time Harvey C. Noone Legion member David Everhart, who accompanied his fellow veterans on this flight. Attendees said it was another joyous occasion to honor these men and women who served their nation.
Lastly, Harvey C. Noone is sponsoring their first Veterans Day Cash Bash raffle that will be drawn at the Churchville Chamber of Commerce luncheon honoring veterans. Raffle tickets are on sale at the Town of Riga and Village of Churchville. There will be a total of 13 winners and total prizes of $3,000. The Veterans Day luncheon will be held at the post at noon following the Legion’s 11 a.m. Veterans Day ceremony in front of the Riga Newman Library. The luncheon is free for Veterans and their guest, but RSVP is required (293-1364). The 11 a.m. service is free and open to the public.
