4-H End of Year Celebration

The 4-H year runs from October 1 to September 30 each year. As the 2021-2022 Monroe County 4-H year concluded, a 4-H Achievement Celebration was held at the Irondequoit Public Library and included an awards ceremony, slide show of the year in review, and hands-on activities to enjoy with seasonal refreshments. Youth were recognized in a variety of categories and clubs were recognized with certificates.

To receive the top award of Jr. or Sr. Achiever, youth participate in at least one educational event, community service activity, 4-H promotional event, and give a public presentation. This year recipients were honored with a plaque. 4-H Scholar Awards were presented to youth who participated in three or more educational events. These youth received a journal and 4-H pen to take notes during future learning opportunities. Star Service Awards were presented to youth who participated in three or more community service activities and youth received a medal for this participation.

4-H participants completed Year-End Experience forms to share their thoughts. One youth shared their favorite part of 4-H this year was being with their mom and volunteering. Another shared that going to Cornell for the first time was their favorite as they intend to become a vet and attend college there.
