Sweden honors retiring ZBA Chairperson
The Sweden Town Board honored retiring Zoning Board of Appeals Chairperson Mary Ann Thorpe at its meeting on December 13. Thorpe has served on the ZBA since 2006 and has been the chair since 2013.
In presenting her with a proclamation, Sweden Supervisor Kevin Johnson also noted her years as trustee, deputy mayor, and mayor of the Village of Brockport and her instrumental role in the construction of the tri-municipal Seymour Library on East Avenue and the search for a community center venue which resulted in the acquisition of the present-day center on Lake Road.
“Not only has Mary Ann been a dedicated public servant to the Town of Sweden,” said Johnson, “but she and her husband, Joseph, have given of their time and resources to many faith, social and community-based organizations.”
Thorpe chaired her last ZBA meeting on December 15.
