The Parma Hilton Historical Society meets at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 9, at the Parma Town Hall, 1300 Hilton Parma Corners Road. Bill Sauers, president of the Greece Historical Society, will give a presentation titled “The Story of the Manitou Trolley.”
During the summer months from 1891 to 1925 an electric trolley ran from Charlotte to Manitou Beach. All but forgotten in this 21st century, it was the major transportation route for eight miles along the lakeshore.
All are welcome to “come along and ride this train” and learn about a fascinating time in this resort neighborhood of long ago and the legacy the trolley left behind.
Refreshments will be served. Admission is free, but space is limited.
