Walmart teams up with customers and nonprofits to donate $1 million

Between March 1 and March 31, Walmart is giving away up to $1 million through its Million Dollar March Round Up campaign. The first 2,000 organizations that register for Round Up will receive a $250 grant, and customers shopping on Walmart.com or in the Walmart app will have the opportunity to round up their purchase and have their donation matched 2:1 to a favorite charity.

To participate, customers go to https://Walmart.com/SparkGood and choose a favorite charity that has registered for Round Up. When a customer checks out while shopping online or in the app, they will be prompted to click the Round Up box signaling their contribution. Small acts like donating your change can add up and have a big impact over time.

Through Spark Good, Walmart is working to remove obstacles for nonprofits so that they can more easily connect with Walmart resources and rally the support of their community whether that’s through applying for community grants, creating registries or benefiting from associate and customer engagement programs. Nonprofits must register for Spark Good at https://walmart.org/what-we-do/strengthening-community/spark-good.

Walmart Spark Good resources include:
Spark Good Round Up: Allows customers to round up their purchase total and donate their change at checkout on Walmart.com and in the Walmart app to a public charity of their choice. It’s easy to use and customizable.
Spark Good Registry: Allows public charities to create and manage registries for products they want and need, making it easier for customers to ensure their giving supports areas that will make the greatest impact. What was previously Registry for Good, Spark Good Registry is now more customizable for charities enabling them to send charitable receipts and thank their donors.
Space Request Tool: Allows local organizations to request space outside of Walmart stores and Neighborhood Markets for the purpose of fundraising or community awareness campaigns.
Community Grants: Allows Walmart’s U.S. stores and clubs to award local cash grants ranging from $250 to $5,000. These local grants are designed to address the unique needs of the communities where the stores operate. They include a variety of organizations, such as animal shelters, elder services, and community clean-up projects. In fiscal year 2022, Walmart stores and clubs provided nearly $45 million in local grants.
Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP): Allows Walmart to support local nonprofits when its associates volunteer. In fiscal year 2022, more than 18,000 U.S. associates reported more than 356,000 volunteer hours generating more than $3.1 million in Walmart donations.
