Urgent need in the Spencerport community
The Spencerport Ecumenical Food Shelf has an urgent need for food and monetary donations. Since the fall of 2022, the need for help for members of the community has been on the increase. The Spencerport Ecumenical Food Shelf serves families within the Spencerport Central School district. The increased need among these families occurs for many reasons, including company restructures that cut their job, sudden health issues that create extra bills, divorce, death, or many life changes beyond their control.
Spencerport has proven to be a giving community, and this was especially true during the pandemic. The Food Shelf is now in need of that kind of support again, and asks residents to consider giving a monetary or food donation through any local church. Food donations must be non-perishable items such as canned soup, fruit, vegetables, meat, stew, hash, boxed potatoes, rice, and more.
On Saturday, November 4, there will be a community food drive sponsored by Spencerport United Methodist Church, located at 32 Amity Street, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers will accept donations and deliver them to the Food Shelf location at the end of the drive.
